Vigilance Bureau Nabs Vaishali Police Sub-Inspector in Bribery Sting Operation
The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) executed a decisive anti-corruption operation on Monday, resulting in the arrest of Akhilesh Singh, a sub-inspector stationed at Patepur police station in Vaishali district. The officer was apprehended for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs15,000 to manipulate official case documentation and facilitate the settlement of a pending criminal matter.
Complaint Triggers Elaborate Trap by Vigilance Team
According to official VIB statements, the bureau received a formal written complaint from Chandan Kumar, who accused Sub-Inspector Singh of demanding the bribe in connection with a recently registered case at the police station. Singh, who served as the investigating officer for this particular case, allegedly solicited the payment to write the official case diary and resolve the legal proceedings.
Acting swiftly on this serious allegation, the vigilance authorities constituted a specialized 10-member team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Satyendra Ram. This team meticulously planned and executed a trap operation designed to catch the officer in the act of accepting the illicit payment.
Red-Handed Capture During Money Exchange
The vigilance team successfully apprehended Sub-Inspector Singh red-handed immediately after he accepted the bribe money from the complainant. The operation unfolded precisely as planned, with officers witnessing the exchange of cash that violated multiple provisions of anti-corruption legislation.
Following the dramatic on-the-spot arrest, necessary legal formalities were completed at Patepur police station. Subsequently, the accused officer was transported to Patna for further processing and judicial proceedings.
