The Varanasi police have declared a cash reward of Rs 25,000 each for five suspects involved in the lynching of a 36-year-old businessman on the night of April 26. The incident occurred in Ghamhapur village under the Pindra police station area after the victim's car struck a woman who was washing utensils by the roadside.
Details of the Incident
The deceased, identified as Manish Singh, was returning home from his factory when his car lost control while passing through Ghamhapur village road and hit a woman. She sustained injuries. Singh stepped out of his vehicle to check on her condition, at which point a mob attacked and lynched him.
Arrests and Reward Announcement
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gomti zone, Neetu Kadian, stated that four accused—Manoj Prajapati, Harishchandra Rajbhar, Yogendra Prajapati, and Abhishek alias Buddhu—were arrested by Tuesday. Raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
A cash reward of Rs 25,000 each has been announced for five other accused: Ashish Rajbhar, Manish Rajbhar, Deepak Rajbhar, Govind Rajbhar, and Nagendra Rajbhar.
Political Response
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai visited Manish Singh's residence in Ghamhapur to meet the family. He demanded justice, a compensation of Rs 2 crore, and a government job for the deceased's family.
