Haryana Power, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij has ordered a vigilance inquiry into a complaint filed by a Sirsa-based NGO alleging irregularities in electricity meter readings and billing of its solar power plant.
Complaint Details
The complaint was submitted by Surender Bhatia, secretary of NGO Disha, which runs services for specially-abled children. Bhatia alleged that the Electricity Department failed to record the actual readings of the NGO’s 10-kilowatt solar plant, installed in 2018, for a long period.
According to the complaint, officials allegedly entered estimated or “imaginary” meter readings instead of taking actual readings at the site, resulting in incorrect electricity bills and financial losses to the organisation. The NGO also claimed that despite depositing nearly Rs 3 lakh towards electricity charges, the dispute has remained unresolved.
Minister's Directive
The minister directed the Power Department’s vigilance wing to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report. He said the matter would be thoroughly examined and action would be taken against anybody found guilty.
