The Visakhapatnam (Vizag) police have successfully refunded a staggering amount of over Rs 22.4 crore to more than 1,240 victims who fell prey to various cyber fraud schemes since 2019. Vizag Police Emerge as Top Refunder in Andhra Pradesh
With the recovery and refund of more than Rs 22 crore, the Vizag police have established themselves as the highest refunding police commissionerate in Andhra Pradesh for cybercrime cases. Vizag Police Commissioner Dr. Shankhabrata Bagchi proudly announced this milestone, underscoring the department's commitment to justice and victim support.
The refund figures reveal a notable increase over the years:
- Between 2019 and 2023, more than Rs 1.1 crore was refunded to victims of cyber frauds.
- In 2024, the police refunded over Rs 3.75 crore.
- This amount rose significantly to over Rs 12.6 crore in 2025, indicating enhanced efficiency and success in tackling cybercrimes.
