Ward boy found hanging at Bareilly hospital, suicide note cites debt

A 50-year-old ward boy was discovered hanging inside the burn ward of Bareilly District Hospital on Friday evening, according to police. The deceased, identified as Pradeep Pathak, a resident of Kanhiya Tola Bada Bazaar under the Kila police station area, had reported for duty as usual on Friday. However, around 8 pm, colleagues noticed his absence. After staff members forced open the door of a room within the ward, they found Pathak hanging from a noose.

Investigation underway

Police have sent the body for post-mortem. Pathak is survived by his wife and a married daughter, who arrived at the hospital shortly after the incident. City SP Manush Pareek stated that a suicide note was recovered from the scene. “The contents of the note suggest that the deceased may have taken the extreme step due to mounting debt. However, the matter is being investigated and due legal procedure will be followed,” he said.

Police have confirmed that the exact reason behind the incident has yet to be formally established, and all possible angles are being examined. Authorities are looking into Pathak's financial situation and any other potential factors that may have contributed to his decision.
