WBNUJS Kolkata Team Secures Victory at Prestigious National Moot Court Competition

The team from West Bengal National University of Juridical Science (WBNUJS) in Kolkata emerged as the champions of the national moot court competition organized by Chanakya National Law University (CNLU). The winning trio, comprising Bhumika, Tejasvi Koul, and Hima Sebastain, demonstrated exceptional legal acumen to claim the top honor.

Prizes and Recognition for Outstanding Performance

As winners, the WBNUJS team was awarded a substantial cash prize of Rs50,000 along with valuable internships at the prominent law firm S S Rana & Co. The competition, which concluded on Monday, showcased the finest legal minds from across the country.

The team from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru was declared the runners-up, receiving a cash prize of Rs40,000 for their impressive performance. Individual accolades were also distributed, with Madhav Sharma from NLSIU Bengaluru being adjudged the best speaker of the competition.

This year's moot court competition delved into highly relevant and contemporary legal issues at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights. Participants engaged with complex topics including:

The competition was organized by the Department of Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT) chair of CNLU in collaboration with S S Rana & Co., highlighting the practical relevance of these emerging legal domains.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by former Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Ravi Ranjan, who presented awards to the deserving winners. His presence added significant prestige to the event, emphasizing the importance of such competitions in nurturing future legal professionals.

In addition to the team awards, Diya Gohil from Karnavati University received the award for best researcher, recognizing her exceptional work in legal analysis and preparation for the competition.
