Wedding Choreographer Nabbed for Car Theft in Mohali Residence
Mohali police have made a significant arrest in a car theft case that involves a surprising twist. Authorities detained a wedding choreographer who allegedly stole a vehicle from a family home where he had previously taught dance lessons.
Details of the Alleged Crime
The incident unfolded in Phase 10 of Mohali. According to police reports, the accused individual, identified as Ajay Kumar from Burail in Sector 45 of Chandigarh, was hired to provide dance instruction for a wedding ceremony at a local residence.
During his visits to the home, Kumar reportedly managed to steal the keys to the family's Toyota Innova car. He waited approximately three months before returning to the property and driving away with the vehicle.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The car owner, Varinder Kumar, who also resides in Phase 10 of Mohali, filed an official complaint about the theft. Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsimran Singh Bal confirmed that authorities registered a case and launched an immediate investigation.
Police officials quickly tracked down and arrested Ajay Kumar. During interrogation, Kumar provided information that led investigators to his accomplice, Dilpreet Singh from Ludhiana. Officers recovered the stolen Innova car from Singh's possession.
Background of the Accused
Investigations revealed that Ajay Kumar works professionally as a choreographer for weddings and social functions. DSP Bal explained that Kumar had taught dance at the complainant's house about three months before the theft occurred.
"He secretly stole the car keys during his visits and later returned to commit the theft," the DSP stated during a briefing about the case.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Warning
Police authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether the accused individuals might have been involved in similar crimes elsewhere. Officials have issued a warning to local residents about maintaining vigilance when allowing outsiders access to their homes.
