Widow Strangled in Amroha, Accused Arrested

A 40-year-old widow was allegedly strangled to death in the Ujhari area of Amroha district. The accused was arrested following an encounter with police on Friday morning.

Incident Details

The victim, identified as Ayesha, was originally from Sambhal and had been living in a rented house in Ujhari with her four children for the past four months. Her husband had passed away three years ago.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Lakhan Singh Yadav, Ayesha was planning to marry Mohammad Parvez (35), a resident of Saraitarin in Sambhal. Parvez had stayed at her house on the night of June 9.

The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when Ayesha’s body was discovered with blood marks on her face. Following a complaint lodged by her brother-in-law, Munna, police registered a murder case against Parvez under BNS Section 103(1).

The autopsy report confirmed strangulation as the cause of death.

Encounter and Arrest

During a checking operation near Ujhari-Sampa Road on the Ganga Expressway on Friday morning, the suspect opened fire at the police. A bullet grazed the arm of constable Shiva Hudda. The police retaliated, injuring and arresting the accused. An illegal firearm and cartridges were seized from his possession, Yadav said.

The accused confessed to the crime, stating that he was in a relationship with the woman and she had been pressuring him to marry her. He has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment, and further legal proceedings are underway, the SP added.
