Wife and Lover Arrested for Murdering Husband in Bulandshahr
Police in Meerut have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly abducting her husband from Delhi, killing him, and dumping his body in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district. The shocking case came to light after the victim's body was discovered in an empty plot earlier this month.
Body Found in Empty Plot
On January 8, police found the body of a 39-year-old man in an area under Khurja police station. The victim was identified as Neeraj Kumar, a daily-wage labourer from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. His brother filed a formal complaint, leading to a case being registered on Friday.
Interestingly, the victim's 35-year-old wife had also filed a missing person report at Ashok Nagar police station on January 12. This report initially seemed routine but later became a crucial piece of the investigation.
Marital Discord and New Relationship
During police interrogation, the wife revealed troubling details about her marriage. She stated that Neeraj was an alcoholic who frequently assaulted her. The domestic situation had become unbearable for her.
The woman explained that she had connected with 33-year-old Pintu Kumar from Etah through social media. Their online interaction soon developed into a romantic relationship. Both were looking for a way out of their difficult circumstances.
Elaborate Murder Plot
According to SP City Shanker Prasad, the duo hatched a murder plan after growing tired of Neeraj's behavior. "At her insistence, Pintu came close to Neeraj and gained his trust by offering alcohol regularly and promising job assistance," Prasad explained. "Fed up with Neeraj's habitual drinking, domestic violence and selling off her jewellery, they decided to eliminate him."
The plan unfolded on January 7 when Pintu brought Neeraj from Delhi to Bulandshahr by bus. He took the unsuspecting victim to the empty plot where they had been drinking together.
Brutal Killing
Police investigation revealed that after drinking together, Pintu strangled Neeraj with a gamchha (towel). He then repeatedly smashed Neeraj's head with a brick, killing him on the spot. The assailant fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
An extensive investigation confirmed the involvement of both the wife and her lover in the murder. Both suspects have been remanded to judicial custody following their arrest.
Legal Action and Family Details
Police have registered a case against the accused under several sections of the BNS:
- Section 103(1) for murder
- Section 238 for disappearance of evidence
- Section 61 for criminal conspiracy
Neeraj Kumar had married in 2008 and leaves behind two sons aged 14 and nine years. Pintu Kumar is also married and has a six-year-old son. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the tragic consequences of domestic discord taken to extreme levels.
Police continue their investigation to determine if there were any additional motives or accomplices involved in the crime. The case serves as a grim reminder of how personal conflicts can escalate into violent tragedies.
