In a shocking case of infidelity and murder, the Sainpau police in Alwar district arrested a woman and her much younger lover on Wednesday for the brutal killing of her husband. The crime unfolded in Daunari village, falling under the Dholpur jurisdiction, sending ripples through the local community.
The Grisly Discovery Near Shergarh Fort
The body of the victim, identified as 47-year-old Ravikant Singh, was discovered in a 50-foot-deep pit located near the historic Shergarh Fort. The area falls under the Kotwali police station limits. According to Dholpur Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan, Singh's face and head had been brutally crushed with a heavy stone.
The sequence of events began when Ravikant Singh left his home for the market on December 27. When he failed to return by evening and his mobile phone remained switched off, concern grew. His cousin, Sanjay Kumar, took immediate action and filed a formal missing person's report at the Sainpau police station on the same day.
A Supernatural Ruse and a Hasty Escape
The investigation took a bizarre turn two days later, on December 29. The victim's wife, Rajni (32), told family members that her husband's spirit had possessed her and was roaming near the Shergarh Fort. Acting on this information, the police launched a search operation around the fort premises.
Their search led them to a grim discovery just outside the boundary wall of the fort. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was promptly summoned to the spot to collect crucial evidence. In a reaction that raised immediate suspicion, Rajni fled from the location as soon as her husband's body was found.
Confession Unveils a Premeditated Crime of Passion
Police inquiries with the deceased's family revealed a critical lead. They learned that a man named Shahrukh (20) had visited the family home with Ravikant on the night of December 26 and left the following day. The police swiftly took Shahrukh into custody for interrogation.
During questioning, Shahrukh confessed to the murder. He revealed that he and Rajni had been in a romantic relationship for over a year. He stated that Rajni had convinced him to kill her husband. According to his confession, on the fateful day, he got Ravikant intoxicated and then smashed his head with a stone, subsequently dumping the body in the deep pit.
Following this detailed confession, which implicated Rajni directly in the conspiracy, the police launched a manhunt and arrested her for the murder of her husband.
Police provided further background on the victim, Ravikant Singh. He was the only son of his parents and had been married to Rajni for 14 years. The couple had two young children—a seven-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. To support his family, Ravikant worked as a daily wage labourer and was based in Bengaluru.
The case highlights a tragic tale of betrayal that has left a family shattered and a community in disbelief. The police have now filed charges against both accused individuals based on the evidence and confession gathered.
