Woman Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Husband with Lover in Muzaffarpur
A 29-year-old woman has been arrested in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, for allegedly killing her 35-year-old husband with the assistance of her lover. The victim's body was discovered lying in a pool of blood on a roadside on Tuesday night, sparking a police investigation that led to the arrest of the wife.
Family Complaint and Police Investigation
Following the incident, the family of the deceased man filed a written complaint at the Town police station against his wife, her brother, and her lover. Police identified the victim as Manoj Kumar, a resident of the Town police station area. He had been married to Nishu Kumari for approximately 10 years, and the couple had two daughters, aged seven and five.
According to police statements, Nishu was reportedly involved in an illicit relationship with a man she met on a social media platform. When Manoj became aware of the affair, he confronted her, leading to a heated argument that allegedly escalated into a conspiracy to eliminate him.
Details of the Affair and Escalation
Police revealed that Nishu met Mantu Kumar, a neighbor, through social media nearly two years ago. Their friendship eventually turned into a love affair. During her husband's absence, Nishu and Mantu would meet outside their homes. On Diwali in 2025, Manoj witnessed Nishu and Mantu riding a scooter together. When he questioned her about it, she allegedly abused him and threatened to kill him, though the matter was later settled within the family.
On Monday, Nishu posted a photo with Mantu on a social media group. One of Manoj's friends showed him the picture, causing him to become enraged. Manoj rushed home and demanded Nishu's cellphone, but she refused, claiming the phone had no SIM card. When he confronted her with the photo, she allegedly attempted to strangle him.
Murder Plot and Arrest
On Tuesday morning, Manoj sent the picture of Nishu and her lover to his brother-in-law, Chhotu Kumar, and his father-in-law. After learning about this, Nishu fled from home. Later that night, Mantu reportedly called Manoj under the pretext of meeting him. Manoj went to the specified location, where he was later found by locals lying on the road with his throat slit.
Town SDPO Suresh Kumar stated, "The deceased's mother and aunt had already expressed suspicion against Nishu, based on which an FIR was registered at the Town police station. Police also took help from the FSL team to investigate the case and arrested Nishu. She has confessed to the murder."
He added that the accused wife has been sent to judicial custody, and raids are currently underway to arrest Mantu and Nishu's brother, Chhotu. The police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence and ensure all involved parties are brought to justice.
