Woman Critically Injured by Train in Sambalpur's Elephant Corridor
A young woman in her twenties sustained critical injuries after a train hit her near Mundera in Sambalpur district. The incident occurred late on Tuesday night. Train Was Moving Slowly Due to Elephant Presence
RPF sources provided details about the accident. The Sambalpur-Shalimar Express had just left Sambalpur station. It was traveling slowly through the Mundera stretch. This area is known as an elephant corridor, requiring trains to reduce speed for safety reasons.
The loco pilot noticed the woman standing directly on the railway tracks. He immediately applied the emergency brakes. Despite this quick action, the train could not stop in time. It struck the woman, causing severe head injuries.

After the accident, authorities initially handed the injured woman over to the Hatibari station master. RPF personnel then took charge and transported her to the hospital for urgent medical care.
