Jaisalmer Bride-to-Be Dies by Suicide Weeks Before Wedding, Police Investigate
A tragic incident unfolded in Jaisalmer city on Saturday, where a 25-year-old woman, identified as Rekha, died by suicide in RP Colony. The incident occurred approximately one month before her scheduled wedding, leaving the community in shock and prompting a police investigation.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, Rekha was alone at home at the time of the incident. Her father runs a grocery business, and her brothers had gone to their shop, while her parents traveled to Barmer for work. In the afternoon, upon returning from Barmer, her parents found the house door locked from the inside.
After repeatedly calling out and attempting phone calls without any response, they grew concerned and suspected something was amiss. With the assistance of neighbors, the door was forcibly opened. Inside, Rekha was discovered hanging from a rope attached to a fan hook in a room.
Immediate Response and Investigation
Neighbors quickly helped bring her down, and she was rushed to Jawahir Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital declared her dead upon arrival. Police took custody of the body and initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
City Kotwal Surjaram Jakhar stated that the body would be handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. A formal case has been registered, and authorities are diligently working to uncover the reasons behind this heartbreaking event.
Background and Wedding Plans
Police revealed that Rekha's engagement had taken place in Dhanera, Gujarat, just 15 days prior to the incident. Her wedding was scheduled for April 19, and preparations had already commenced at her home. The sudden turn of events has left family and friends devastated, as they grapple with the loss so close to what was meant to be a joyous occasion.
As of now, the reasons behind the suicide remain unclear, with no suicide note found at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help shed light on this tragic case.
