Woman Gang-Raped After Being Given Intoxicant in UP

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men after being given an intoxicating substance in a village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The incident occurred when the woman had gone to the fields to collect animal fodder, according to a news agency report.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, she was administered an intoxicating substance and subsequently gang-raped by the accused, officials said. The woman was later found in a nearby forested area during a search conducted by her family after she did not return home. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials added.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Umer and his associates, who are currently absconding, said Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar. Kumar said three police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused. He added that further investigation in the case is underway.
