Woman in Agra Allegedly Murders Niece, Attacks Family in Relationship Rage
In a shocking incident in Agra, a 25-year-old woman, enraged over being barred from communicating with her boyfriend, allegedly committed a brutal attack on her own family members. The accused, identified as Mana, is reported to have thrown her sleeping four-year-old niece into a large water tank and then viciously assaulted the child's mother with a knife.
Details of the Violent Spree
The tragic event unfolded in the Shahpur area of Muzaffarnagar in the early hours of Tuesday, around 2 AM. According to police reports, after attacking her sister-in-law, Firdosh, aged 30, Mana turned her fury on three other children—Shad (10), Aisha (8), and Nabia (7)—who attempted to intervene and save their mother. All three children sustained stab wounds to their hands and fingers during the altercation.
The four-year-old child, Isra, was later found dead in the water tank, while Firdosh remains in critical condition with severe internal injuries, including ruptured organs and partial intestinal exposure. She has been transferred to a higher medical facility in Meerut for advanced treatment.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumra Verma confirmed that Mana has been arrested and has admitted to the crimes. In her statement, she revealed that she had been in a relationship with a neighbor for over two years, but her family recently arranged her marriage to someone else. She claimed that Firdosh frequently interfered in her personal affairs and reprimanded her for speaking to the neighbor, which fueled her resentment and eventual violent outburst.
A case under BNS section 103 (murder) has been registered against Mana, and the knife used in the attack has been recovered as evidence. Authorities are also investigating the role of Mana's boyfriend, who currently works in Tamil Nadu, to determine if he was involved in planning the incident.
Premeditated Nature of the Crime
Police disclosed that Mana had procured a large quantity of sedative pills eight days prior to the attack. On Monday night, she allegedly served food and tea laced with these sedatives to the family, potentially to incapacitate them before carrying out her violent plan. This premeditation suggests a calculated effort to execute the crime without resistance.
The children, who were asleep at the time, were awakened by the commotion and tried to defend their mother, leading to their injuries. The recovery of Isra's body from the tank highlighted the extreme nature of the violence, with the community left in shock over the tragic loss of a young life.
This incident underscores the severe consequences of unresolved family disputes and the need for effective conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent such tragedies. The police continue their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined.
