In a gruesome incident in Uttar Pradesh, a woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly tying her husband to a cot and setting him ablaze, resulting in his death. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Ramesh, was killed in the Sitapur district on Tuesday night.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the accused woman, Sunita, and her lover, Rajesh, hatched a plan to eliminate Ramesh as he had opposed their illicit relationship. On the night of the incident, the duo allegedly tied Ramesh to a cot, poured kerosene on him, and set him on fire. The victim died on the spot due to severe burn injuries.
Police Investigation
Police received information about the incident and rushed to the spot. The body was sent for postmortem examination. Based on a complaint filed by the victim's brother, a case was registered against Sunita and Rajesh under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder. The accused were arrested from their hideout on Wednesday.
Motive Behind the Crime
Investigations revealed that Sunita and Rajesh were in a relationship for the past few months. Ramesh had repeatedly warned Sunita to end the affair, which led to frequent arguments. The couple had also sought help from the local panchayat, but the issue remained unresolved. Fed up with the interference, the accused decided to eliminate Ramesh.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with locals demanding strict action against the perpetrators. Police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and the accused will be produced in court soon.
