A 32-year-old woman was discovered murdered with her throat slit late on Saturday in the IDA Bollarum area of Hyderabad. The victim has been identified as Meena Devi, a resident of Bihar Colony in IDA Bollarum.
Incident Details
The Cyberabad police received a call on Saturday night from a man named Anil Jha, who reported that his wife had been killed by unidentified assailants and that he was also attacked. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Anil and Meena, both originally from Bihar, had been living in IDA Bollarum for the past 25 years.
According to Anil's statement, the couple was returning home from a vegetable market around 9 pm on Saturday when their motorcycle broke down on an isolated stretch of road. At that moment, three or four unidentified men emerged from nearby bushes and dragged Meena away. Anil claimed he fled the scene in fear but soon returned, concerned for his wife's safety. Upon his return, the attackers allegedly slit his wife's throat and also assaulted him before fleeing with his motorcycle.
Police Investigation
However, police noted inconsistencies in Anil's version of events. There was no evidence of sexual assault or theft at the scene. Anil is currently being questioned, and authorities are probing whether he may have killed his wife and later staged the incident to mislead investigators.
