In a shocking incident in Bulandshahr district, the Khurja Dehat police, in coordination with the SWAT team, have apprehended a 32-year-old woman for the alleged murder of a 65-year-old woman. The accused, Mamta Devi, reportedly posed as a door-to-door sanitary pad vendor to identify vulnerable targets for robbery, officials confirmed.

Incident Details

The victim, Vimla Devi, lived with her husband, a farmer, in a quiet residential area. On April 11, Mamta Devi targeted her under the pretense of selling sanitary pads. After gaining entry into the house, she attempted to rob the elderly woman. However, when Vimla resisted, the situation escalated fatally.

How the Crime Unfolded

According to police investigations, Mamta Devi had been conducting reconnaissance in various neighborhoods by posing as a sanitary pad seller. She specifically targeted homes where elderly residents lived alone or with minimal security. On the day of the incident, she strangled Vimla Devi with a rope and fled with jewelry and cash.

“Investigation revealed that Mamta targeted Vimla Devi for robbery. When the victim resisted, the situation turned fatal. She strangled her with a rope and fled with jewellery and cash,” said Antriksh Jain, Superintendent of Police (Rural).

Arrest and Recovery

Following a thorough investigation, the police tracked down Mamta Devi and arrested her. Stolen items, including earrings, anklets, and INR 6,500 in cash, were seized from her possession. The accused is currently in police custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Authorities have praised the coordinated efforts of the Khurja Dehat police and the SWAT team in solving the case swiftly. They have also urged residents to remain cautious of strangers posing as salespersons and to verify identities before allowing entry into their homes.
