Gurgaon Woman Raped in Moving Van, Thrown Out on Road; 2 Held
Woman raped in moving van on Gurgaon-Faridabad road, 2 held

A horrific incident of sexual assault has shaken the National Capital Region, with a 25-year-old woman allegedly being raped inside a moving van and then thrown onto the road in the dead of night. The crime, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, has led to the detention of two suspects by the crime branch.

The Night of Horror: Sequence of Events

The victim had left her home around 8:30 PM on Monday following an argument with her mother. She informed her sister she was heading to a friend's place and expected to return in a few hours. However, her departure was delayed, and she eventually left her friend's house around midnight.

Stranded without transport in the biting cold and dense fog, the woman accepted a lift from a van. Two men were already inside the vehicle. Instead of taking her home, the driver allegedly diverted towards the isolated stretches of the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.

Assault in a Moving Vehicle and Abandonment

Police stated that the van was driven beyond the Hanuman temple on that stretch. The woman screamed for help, but the poor visibility and cold meant few people were on the road to hear her cries. The family's complaint alleges that the two men took turns to rape her during a nearly three-hour ordeal as the van moved through secluded areas in Faridabad.

Around 3 AM on Tuesday, in a final act of brutality, the woman was pushed out of the moving van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar. The fall caused deep facial injuries that later required 12 stitches.

Police Action and Aftermath

Managing to contact her sister, the victim was rushed to a hospital. While doctors referred her to a facility in Delhi, her family admitted her to a private hospital in Faridabad. Following a complaint by the family, a case was registered at the Kotwali police station.

Acting on the information, a crime branch team moved swiftly and detained two suspects on Tuesday. The investigation is ongoing to establish the complete chain of events and gather forensic evidence. The identity of the survivor has been protected as per Supreme Court directives concerning sexual assault cases.

This incident has again highlighted the grave dangers women face, especially when using informal transport options late at night. It raises serious questions about safety on highways and the response mechanisms to such crimes in isolated conditions.
