In a successful operation, Ekdil Police rescued a 32-year-old woman from Gwalior on Thursday. The woman was allegedly kidnapped by two men from her village on April 5 over a land dispute.
Background of the Case
The woman's husband, a resident of Raipura village in the Ekdil area, had filed an FIR regarding her disappearance. Despite the complaint, the police were initially unable to locate her.
Distraught over his wife's unknown whereabouts, the husband attempted suicide on May 18 by consuming phenyl outside the SSP office at the Collectorate in Etawah. He was subsequently admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.
Intensified Search Efforts
Following the husband's suicide attempt, the police intensified their search for the missing woman. Utilizing surveillance and other investigative techniques, the authorities managed to trace her location to Gwalior.
During interrogation, the woman revealed that the two accused, also from her village, had kidnapped her approximately one and a half months ago due to a land dispute.
Legal Proceedings and Outcome
The police produced the woman before the court, where her statement was recorded on Thursday. After completing all legal formalities, she was handed over to her father. Additionally, the woman submitted an application to the SSP demanding that a kidnapping case be registered against the two accused individuals.
Inspector in-charge Vikram Singh Chauhan stated that both the woman and her husband have alleged that the kidnapping was linked to a land dispute. The matter is currently under investigation, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
