In a shocking incident in Mumbai's Santacruz area, a 35-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her longtime friend to death following a violent argument. The tragic event has sent ripples through the local community, highlighting how a personal dispute turned fatal.
Decade-Long Friendship Ends in Tragedy
The accused has been identified as Kamala Sanjay Kamble, also known as Preeti, aged 35. She is a resident of the Gajdhar Bandh area. The victim was her friend, Reshma Dhone, aged 37. According to police reports, the two women had known each other for more than ten years. However, their relationship had recently become strained due to a previous unresolved dispute.
The fatal confrontation occurred on Thursday night at Kamble's residence in Santacruz (West). The women had gathered for a party when old tensions resurfaced. The argument reportedly escalated because Dhone had not visited Kamble's house earlier despite receiving an invitation, which became a point of bitter contention.
The Fatal Attack and Immediate Aftermath
As the quarrel intensified, police stated that Kamble, in a fit of rage, grabbed a knife that was lying in the house. She then allegedly stabbed Reshma Dhone in the chest. The sudden violence led to screams that alerted neighbours, who promptly called the police.
A police patrolling team arrived swiftly at the scene. They rushed the critically injured Dhone to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The authorities took Kamble into custody from the spot itself.

The Santacruz police have formally arrested Kamala Sanjay Kamble. She has been charged under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered based on a complaint filed by the victim's son.
