Panaji: The body of a 23-year-old woman was discovered on Hawai beach at Dona Paula late Wednesday evening. Some locals first spotted the body on the shore and promptly informed the Panaji police, who rushed to the scene to carry out investigations.
Body Shifted for Postmortem
The body was later shifted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) for postmortem examination. Medico-legal formalities were ongoing until late into the night.
Victim Identified as Medical Intern
Sources said that initial investigations indicate that the woman was a native of Kerala and was currently undergoing her internship at GMC, Bambolim, as part of her medicine programme. The cause of death has yet to be ascertained. Authorities are awaiting the postmortem report for further clarity.
