Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday cautioned Uttar Pradesh Police personnel against making social media reels while on duty, calling it gross indiscipline and urging greater alertness and seriousness in daily policing.
Addressing an appointment letter distribution programme in Lucknow for 930 newly recruited police computer operators, Yogi said it is often seen that personnel record reels while on duty and stressed that those in uniform must remain focused on assigned responsibilities. He asked police staff to avoid any conduct that could invite public ridicule and underlined the importance of teamwork, accountability and dedication, saying sincere performance would bring results on its own.
“All of you are the carriers of Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. For this, self-discipline is the most important aspect, and you must maintain it. There should be alertness towards duty and seriousness in every task. Making reels during duty is indiscipline. No one should engage in any activity that makes them a subject of ridicule,” the chief minister said.
He expressed confidence that the newly selected candidates would contribute effectively with their understanding of modern technology and the security standards of the UP Police and asked them to work with team spirit, transparency and impartiality. Highlighting investments in forensic capability, Yogi said the number of forensic laboratories in the state has risen from four to 12 and that UP Police now has a Forensic Institute. He said six additional A-grade laboratories are under construction and mobile forensic vans have been deployed across districts, with three in larger districts and two in smaller ones. He said such preparations were crucial for implementing the three new criminal laws effectively.
On cybercrime, he said the state earlier had only one cyber security police station, while all 75 districts now have cyber police stations and cyber help desks. He noted that timely reporting in cyber fraud cases can help save victims’ money.
Yogi said a secure environment drives economic growth, adding that Uttar Pradesh’s economy and per capita income have increased more than threefold over the past nine years. He told recruits the hiring process was merit-based without the need for recommendations and said the govt expects honesty, dignified conduct and an end to unnecessary pendency and delays in work.
UP overcame court stays, expanded training, deployed 60,244 police personnel
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the state inherited a major recruitment backlog after his govt took office in 2017, with “several lakh” appointments pending. He said multiple recruitment processes had been stayed by the Supreme Court, High Court and other courts, prompting him to ask why the Recruitment Board was failing to meet judicial expectations. After the state initiated what he described as appropriate corrective action, courts allowed the recruitment process to move forward. Adityanath said that when hiring resumed, the system could complete only about 3,000 recruitments at a time, followed by nine months of training, a pace he said would have taken decades to clear the backlog. He said the govt expanded training capacity, enabling the training of 60,244 police personnel within Uttar Pradesh last year. He added that all of them are now deployed and serving in the field.
