A 22-year-old youth was allegedly assaulted by unidentified men in Shahkot, prompting police to register a case. The incident occurred late Tuesday evening when the victim, identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Shahkot, was returning home from work. According to the police, two unknown assailants on a motorcycle intercepted him near the bus stand and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.
Victim Hospitalized
Ravi sustained multiple injuries on his head and hands. He was rushed to the local civil hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable. The doctors have advised him to remain under observation for a few days.
Police Investigation Underway
The Shahkot police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Station House Officer (SHO) Shahkot, Inspector Gurpreet Singh, said that a complaint was filed by the victim's family late Tuesday night. The police have formed teams to nab the accused. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the assailants.
The motive behind the attack is not yet known. The police are exploring all angles, including personal enmity and robbery. No arrests have been made so far. The family of the victim has demanded swift action from the police.
