A 26-year-old youth preparing for competitive exams was brutally murdered in a shocking daylight attack in Nawada, Bihar, on Saturday evening. The victim, identified as Prashant Kumar, a resident of Nawada, was first assaulted with iron rods and then stabbed multiple times in the middle of a busy market locality.
Gruesome Attack in Gonawan Mazar
The horrific incident took place in the Gonawan Mazar locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Town police station in Nawada town. According to police and local accounts, Prashant was surrounded by a group of youths who launched a vicious assault.
Eyewitnesses, speaking on condition of anonymity, described a scene of terror. The assailants first beat Prashant and then surrounded him from all sides, attacking him with iron rods. Despite the victim's desperate attempts to escape, he was overpowered by the greater number of attackers. During the assault, one of the boys stabbed Prashant multiple times with a knife.
The attack was so sudden and violent that shopkeepers in the area fled in fear, leaving their shops open. The criminals fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
Victim's Background and Police Investigation
Prashant Kumar was the eldest son in his family. His father works in the private sector in Jaipur. Prashant had been preparing for competitive exams in Patna and had come to his hometown Nawada to attend a friend's wedding.
According to his family members and the police, Prashant attended the wedding on Thursday. He stayed at home for the next two days before leaving on Saturday evening without informing anyone about his destination. He was scheduled to return to Patna on Sunday, a journey he never made.
Upon receiving information about the murder, a police team led by Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman, Sadar SDPO Hulas Kumar, and Town SHO Avinash Kumar reached the spot. The police conducted raids at several locations but no arrests have been made yet. The criminals are believed to have fled to another area.
The postmortem of the deceased is being carried out at the Nawada Sadar Hospital on Sunday.
Probe into Motive: Love Affair, Enmity Under Scanner
The police are actively investigating the motive behind this brutal killing. Sadar SDPO Hulas Kumar stated that the police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the criminals and understand the reason for the attack.
"We are investigating possible love affair, enmity, or old rivalry as motives behind the killing," the SDPO said. The police are exploring all angles to unravel the circumstances that led to this tragic and violent end for the young aspirant.
