A youth sustained critical gunshot injuries after being allegedly shot by another young man following a dispute reportedly linked to a girl in Shushak village, located in the Zira subdivision of Ferozepur, on Saturday.
The injured individual has been identified as Lovepreet Singh, aged 22. He was first taken to the Civil Hospital in Zira for emergency care. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC) in Ludhiana for advanced treatment.
Incident Details
According to available information, the incident unfolded when Lovepreet Singh, accompanied by his friend Karan, went to attend a bhog ceremony in the village. During the event, another youth, identified as Prabh, who was known to Lovepreet, arrived at the venue.
At some point, Lovepreet and Prabh stepped outside together. A heated argument reportedly erupted between them, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. In the heat of the moment, Prabh allegedly drew a firearm and shot Lovepreet, leaving him with severe injuries.
Medical Response
Dr. Navdeep Singh, who attended to the victim at Civil Hospital, Zira, confirmed that a youth with a gunshot wound was brought in. After providing initial medical care, the hospital referred him to a larger facility in Ludhiana for more comprehensive treatment.
Police Investigation
Superintendent of Police (Detective) Manjeet Singh stated that preliminary investigations indicate the dispute was linked to a girl. He added that the accused has been identified, and police teams are conducting raids at multiple locations to apprehend him. The accused is currently absconding.
The condition of Lovepreet Singh remains critical, and he is undergoing treatment at DMC Ludhiana. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
