An Army officer lost his life after slipping and falling into a deep gorge during an ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday evening, officials confirmed.

Details of the Incident

The deceased officer, a lieutenant, was actively participating in Operation Sheruwali, which has now entered its 15th consecutive day. The operation is focused on the Dorimaal and Gambhir Mughalan belt, where security forces are tracking two to three Pakistani terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forests of Rajouri district.

During the search operation, the lieutenant reportedly lost his footing and plunged into a 30-metre-deep gorge in the Dorimaal area. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Rescue teams later recovered his body, and further investigations are underway.
