The All India Kisan Sabha has strongly condemned the alleged lathicharge on unemployed apprenticeship linemen by the Patiala police on Saturday. Addressing a meeting, Kisan Sabha leaders including Mahabir Singh Gill, Puran Singh Marimegha, Balkar Singh Valtoha, and Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind stated that the government had crossed all limits by resorting to violence against peacefully protesting youth.
Demand for Investigation
The Sabha demanded a thorough inquiry to ascertain who ordered the police action. They called upon the Chief Minister to personally investigate the matter, emphasizing that the police should be used to curb lawlessness, not to beat unemployed youth who are exercising their democratic right to protest for legitimate demands.
Leaders Voice Concern
Other leaders present at the gathering included Avtar Singh Palasaur, Darshan Singh Biharipur, and Kulbir Singh Kasel. They reiterated that such heavy-handed tactics are unacceptable and urged the government to address the grievances of the unemployed linemen through dialogue rather than force.
The Kisan Sabha also highlighted that the apprenticeship linemen were jobless and were peacefully pressing for their demands when they were subjected to the lathicharge. The incident has sparked outrage among various sections of society, with calls for accountability and justice for the victims.
