Chhattisgarh YouTuber Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Father Over Social Media Dispute and Land Feud
In a shocking and violent incident that has sent tremors through a quiet village in Chhattisgarh, a 27-year-old female YouTuber has been accused of slitting her father's throat while he slept. The brutal act reportedly stemmed from long-standing domestic tensions, including disputes over her social media addiction and content creation, as well as bitter conflicts over land and property.
Grisly Details of the Korba Village Murder
The horrific crime unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday in Raliya village, located in the Hardi Bazar area of Korba district. According to police reports, the accused, identified as Geeta Kevat, allegedly used a sickle to attack her 55-year-old father, Ashok Kumar Kevat, during a heated argument. She slashed his jaw, neck, and other body parts, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
This disturbing event comes shortly after the tragic triple suicide of siblings in Ghaziabad, who took their own lives after their parents objected to their gaming fixation and confiscated their smartphones. The Korba case highlights escalating family conflicts related to digital obsessions and generational divides.
Years of Family Estrangement and Tensions
Police investigations reveal that the Kevat family had been fractured for nearly eight years, with Ashok living alone while his wife and three daughters resided separately. Frequent quarrels and Ashok's alleged aggressive behavior, particularly under the influence of alcohol, had created a hostile environment. Relatives and authorities noted that Ashok was a habitual drinker who often picked fights with his wife and daughters.
Geeta, the eldest daughter, was an active social media user and operated a YouTube channel where she discussed socially sensitive topics. Her father strongly disapproved of her online presence and fixation with digital platforms, leading to persistent friction between them. The conflict reached a boiling point when Ashok voiced his misgivings about her content creation and social media addiction.
Land Dispute Adds Fuel to the Fire
Beyond the digital disagreements, there was also a running dispute over land and property that possibly contributed to the violent outburst. Ashok's wife and daughters had returned to the village on February 9 in connection with land compensation matters, staying there temporarily. This proximity likely exacerbated existing tensions.
Around 2 AM on Tuesday, an argument erupted between Ashok and Geeta while she was working on her YouTube channel. During the altercation, Ashok allegedly used abusive language against his daughter. In a fit of rage, Geeta picked up a sickle and committed the brutal murder.
Police Response and Investigation
After the killing, Geeta reportedly walked out and informed relatives that she had murdered her father. Hardi Bazar station in-charge Pramod Dadsena stated that police reached the spot immediately after being notified and took Geeta into custody based on preliminary evidence. The mortal remains of Ashok Kumar Kevat were sent for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family for last rites.
ASP Lakhan Patle indicated that initial investigations point to Ashok's aggressive behavior when intoxicated as a contributing factor. However, police are continuing their probe to establish the exact sequence of events and determine whether other elements played a role in the tragic outcome. The case serves as a grim reminder of how unresolved family conflicts, combined with modern digital pressures, can lead to catastrophic violence.
