Patna: Police have arrested 10 individuals from Arwal and Munger districts for their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities during the Bihar Constable Recruitment Examination. The arrests follow a probe into the recruitment process conducted by the Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC), Bihar.
According to the police investigation, several candidates were allegedly part of a well-planned conspiracy to clear the written exam through impersonation and other fraudulent means. The irregularities came to light during the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), where biometric verification flagged discrepancies in fingerprints and other identification records. This led to a detailed investigation.
Based on the findings, a case was registered at the Secretariat police station against 563 accused. Since the suspects are from districts across the state, a special team was formed to conduct raids and make arrests.
Secretariat SDPO-I Anu Kumari said on Thursday that candidates who allegedly cleared the written exam fraudulently were identified during biometric checks at the physical test stage. “Mismatches in fingerprints and other records exposed the fraud,” she said.
She added that some of those arrested are candidates, while others are suspected impersonators or “scholars” who appeared for the exam on their behalf. “Their exact roles are being verified,” she said.
The accused have been produced before the court. Police said action has so far been taken against 88 people in the case.
Authorities have assured that further arrests are expected as the investigation continues. The CSBC has also been asked to review the recruitment process to prevent such incidents in the future.
