Body Found Near Kot-Ise-Khan Masjid Road

A 28-year-old married man, Chamkaur Singh, died of a suspected drug overdose on Saturday near Kot-Ise-Khan Masjid Road in Moga, Punjab. The deceased, a resident of Mallubania village, was discovered by passersby who noticed a body lying in the bushes along the roadside. A syringe used for injecting drugs was found in the man's hand.

Local residents pulled the body out of the bushes and immediately informed the police. A team from the Kot-Ise-Khan police station rushed to the spot and took possession of the body.

Family Reveals Long Struggle with Addiction

Family members revealed that Chamkaur Singh, a father of two children, worked as a combine harvester operator for wheat and paddy crops. He had been living with his family at his in-laws' house. They added that he had been struggling with drug addiction for a long time.

Kot-Ise-Khan Police Station In-charge Sunita Rani said the body was recovered under suspicious circumstances. The body has been sent to the mortuary of the Moga Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Autopsy to Determine Exact Cause

“The exact cause of death will be determined once the autopsy report is available. Further legal proceedings will be conducted based on the statements given by the deceased’s family,” the police official said. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm whether the death was due to a drug overdose or other causes.
