The Ministry of Railways has approved the stoppage of two key trains at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station, following a request by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The 14331 Delhi-Kalka Express and the 14053 Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express will now halt at the station, a move expected to benefit lakhs of commuters from north and west Delhi.
Background of the Decision
CM Gupta wrote to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeking additional train halts at Adarsh Nagar to improve connectivity for residents. In response, Vaishnaw confirmed the approval in a letter to the CM. The new halts aim to reduce the need for passengers to travel to New Delhi or Old Delhi railway stations to board these trains.
Impact on Commuters
The Delhi-Kalka Express halt will directly benefit passengers traveling to Kurukshetra, Chandigarh, and Kalka, as well as tourists heading to destinations in Himachal Pradesh. Similarly, the Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express will improve connectivity for passengers traveling to Kurukshetra, Fatehgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, and various parts of Himachal Pradesh.
The move is expected to provide easier access to Himachal Pradesh and key religious destinations in Punjab for residents of north and west Delhi. According to the Railways, the decision aligns with efforts to enhance regional rail connectivity and passenger convenience.
