Congress Leader Predicts AIADMK's Demise Following BJP Alliance in Tamil Nadu
NAMAKKAL: In a bold declaration, Nivedith Alva, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Tamil Nadu, asserted on Monday that the upcoming assembly election will be the final poll for the AIADMK. This statement came as he inaugurated the Namakkal East district Congress office, where he accused the BJP of forming an alliance with the AIADMK to deceive the people of Tamil Nadu.
Alva's Warning: BJP's Track Record of Destroying Regional Parties
Alva emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu are astute and will not easily allow the BJP to establish a foothold in the state. He pointed to historical precedents, alleging that the BJP has systematically dismantled ruling parties in states such as Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka. "BJP has formed an alliance with AIADMK, and this will be the last election for AIADMK," he stated, suggesting that the alliance is a strategic move that will ultimately lead to the AIADMK's downfall.
Congress's Electoral Strategy and Internal Unity
Regarding the Congress party's preparations, Alva revealed that discussions are ongoing about the constituencies the party will contest. He described the upcoming election as historic, promising opportunities for grassroots workers who have dedicatedly served the party. Addressing internal factions, Alva stressed the futility of division, calling for unity with a clear objective: "Rahul Gandhi should be made the prime minister while M K Stalin will take oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu again." He urged party cadres to work diligently towards the victory of the DMK-led alliance.
Voter List Concerns and Local Representation
Alva also highlighted concerns about the intensive revision of the voter list, warning that even if names appear on the list, voters might face issues at polling booths. He advised party members to remain vigilant. Additionally, he mentioned that he would convey to the Congress high command the cadres' desire for the party to contest in the Namakkal assembly constituency, underscoring the importance of local representation in the electoral process.
This development comes amid heightened political activity in Tamil Nadu, with alliances shaping the landscape for the crucial assembly elections. Alva's remarks reflect the Congress party's strategy to position itself as a defender of regional interests against perceived external threats from the BJP.
