Akhilesh Yadav Condemns BJP Government Over IAS Officer's Resignation

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, following the submission of a 'technical resignation' by IAS officer Rinku Singh. Yadav alleged that the state administration systematically sidelines honest officers while favoring those engaged in corrupt practices.

Resignation Highlights Administrative Failures

Rinku Singh, a 2022-batch IAS officer, submitted his resignation to the President of India, citing prolonged placement in an "attached" position without meaningful responsibilities. Despite receiving his salary, Singh claimed he was denied the opportunity to serve the public effectively, prompting his drastic decision.

"In the BJP government, no importance is given to efficient officers. Instead, importance is given to officers who make money through unfair means and then that money is 'stolen' or those officers who charge 5% 'fee' on investments," Akhilesh Yadav stated in an official release.

Political References and Historical Context

Political observers interpreted Yadav's remarks as indirect references to previous cases involving IAS officers accused of accepting commissions from investors. One former officer and one serving officer were initially suspended on such allegations but were later cleared of all charges and reinstated to their positions.

The Samajwadi Party leader appealed to upright officers across the administration to avoid making emotional decisions, assuring them that "bad days are about to end." He promised that a future PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) government would respect all officials and address systemic discrimination.

Broader Allegations Against BJP Administration

Yadav expanded his criticism beyond the specific resignation case, claiming that BJP's "ATM of partiality" has created turmoil within India's business community. He alleged that legitimate business deals are being unfairly denied to certain parties, prompting written opposition from multiple business leaders, though he declined to name specific deals or corporations involved.

Concerns Over Legislative Intentions

The SP chief also questioned the BJP-led central government's motives behind the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill (2026), which was scheduled for parliamentary discussion on Wednesday. Yadav characterized the legislation as a "draconian" measure designed to grant excessive control over foreign funds received by NGOs and minority-run institutions.

"The Bill is aimed at facilitating rampant irregularities to take control of foreign funds received by NGOs," Yadav asserted, noting that the legislation has been temporarily put on hold by the central government.

Vision for Alternative Governance

Emphasizing the need for administrative reform, Yadav stated: "Good officers are needed for doing quality work within a stipulated time frame. We have valued efficient officials and will continue to do so always." He expressed confidence that harassed officials and workers would unite under the PDA banner to remove the BJP from power.

The political confrontation highlights growing tensions between opposition parties and the ruling BJP over governance standards, administrative integrity, and legislative transparency as Uttar Pradesh continues to be a crucial political battleground.
