Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday stated that he does not support the use of inappropriate language against anyone and distanced himself from the remarks made by party leader Ajendra Singh.
"I am not in favour of what Ajendra Singh said. He expressed his pain, but the language used to express it was not right," Yadav said while addressing the media in Lucknow.
However, he also called upon other political parties to adopt a similar standard of discourse and questioned the language used by BJP MPs in Parliament. "Other parties should also reflect on their choice of words. The kind of language used by some BJP MPs in Parliament is also a matter of concern," he added.
Yadav's remarks come amid a political controversy over Ajendra Singh's comments, which have drawn criticism from various quarters. The Samajwadi Party chief's statement seeks to distance his party from the controversy while also taking a swipe at the ruling party's conduct in Parliament.
