Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday stated that after reviewing the extensive election-related corruption allegedly committed by the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, he firmly believes the issue has transcended beyond securing polls. He emphasized that it is now about saving the country, which he claims is in the wrong hands.
Akhilesh Calls for Unity Against Destructive Forces
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, "The crucial decisive moment has come where we all will have to unite to defeat the negative destructive forces which are against our country's fundamental spirit. We must join hands to pick up the tricolour to save our country and pave the way for a new freedom." He asserted that the BJP and their 'mukhbir sangi-sathi' (informer associates) were against the country before the freedom struggle and have not changed since.
Allegations Against the Ruling Party
Akhilesh Yadav accused the current government of being opposed to the Constitution, democracy, reservation, equality, justice, unity, and integrity. He stated, "These are the people who are opposed to amity, harmony, and brotherhood in society and do not believe in respecting the honour of women, the deprived, and the exploited. They don't want to give the marginalised and the PDA their rights."
He further questioned, "The people of the country will have to understand that those who are destroying the atmosphere of unity and peace in India are working as agents of whom? Who are the people who talk about swadeshi but bring funds from abroad? Why are they not sharing the details on the utilisation of donations collected from the people in the name of Covid? Why do they remain unregistered and underground?"
Education System Under Attack
The Samajwadi Party chief also criticized the government's handling of education, alleging that those in power have captured the education system to weaken the intellectual spirit and strength of the country. He claimed they have conspired to keep the common man's children uneducated by shutting down government schools.
Call for Socio-Political Unity
Akhilesh Yadav added that the BJP and its associates are determined to administer splits in political parties that do not align with them, thereby destroying the socio-political structure that forms the foundation of a vibrant democracy. He urged people from all walks of life to join hands as a unit and walk the talk to preserve the country's unity and integrity.
