Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Blatant Lies Over Women's Reservation Bill

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, accusing it of deliberately misleading the public by claiming that the Opposition had blocked the Women's Reservation Bill. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, Yadav asserted that the Bill was actually passed in 2023 and has been officially notified, challenging the BJP's narrative head-on.

BJP's Alleged Deception and Political Motives

Akhilesh Yadav stated emphatically that the BJP is not inclined to provide reservation to women, which is why it is spreading false information. "The BJP is one party which cannot take defeats sportingly and can go to any extent to avoid it," he remarked, highlighting what he sees as the party's unscrupulous tactics.

He pointed to the recent blocking of Bills moved by the BJP-led NDA in Parliament by the Opposition as a significant turning point. According to Yadav, this event marks the beginning of the BJP's political downfall, signaling that the party is now heading for a decisive defeat. "The BJP is scared that it will be ousted from power, and once removed, they will never return. This fear is mounting on them," he added, underscoring his prediction of a bleak future for the ruling party.

Clarification on the Women's Reservation Bill

Yadav addressed the BJP's marches and protests, which claim that the Opposition stalled the Women's Reservation Bill. He set the record straight by explaining that the Bill was indeed passed and notified. "It was not the women's reservation bill but the conspiracy and ill-intentions of the BJP that we as the Opposition had blocked," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister clarified.

He specifically referred to the Delimitation and Women Reservation Amendment Bill, which was blocked by the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Yadav alleged that the BJP wanted to divide women through this amendment bill, and since the Opposition thwarted their attempt, the BJP is now trying to hide its defeat. "The protest march taken out by the CM and his cabinet colleagues was an attempt to mask the party's humiliation at the hands of the Opposition," he stated.

Prediction for the 2027 Polls and PDA Community Response

Akhilesh Yadav made a bold prediction regarding the 2027 elections, suggesting that the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) community will respond to the BJP's divisive tactics by voting out the saffron party. "The BJP tried to divide the women, and the PDA community will respond to it in the 2027 polls by voting out the BJP. It will be the first time in the history of the country that a political party will be defeated by a community – the PDA community – and that too in a manner that it will never return to power again," he proclaimed, envisioning a historic political shift.

Jibe at BJP's Padyatra as Rehearsal for Opposition Role

Taking a sharp jibe at the BJP's padyatra (foot march) in Lucknow, Yadav described it as a rehearsal for what the party will do once it is ousted from government in the 2027 elections. "This padyatra was a practice session on how the BJP will have to hold agitations in Opposition," he said, adding that this is the first time a government in power is practicing for its stint in opposition.

He further mocked the BJP's legislative struggles, noting, "No other government would have struggled to get its law passed the way this government has had." This comment underscores his view of the BJP's diminishing effectiveness and growing desperation as it faces increased resistance in Parliament.
