Andhra Pradesh Government to Release Rs 45 Crore Honorarium for Imams and Mouzans
In a significant announcement aimed at supporting the Muslim community, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared on Monday that the state government will immediately release pending honorarium dues amounting to Rs 45 crore for Imams and Mouzans across the state. The announcement was made during an Iftar dinner hosted by the state government in Vijayawada.
New Haj House in Amaravati and Completion of Kadapa Facility
Alongside the financial commitment, CM Naidu revealed plans for the construction of a new Haj house in Amaravati, the state's capital region. He further assured that the incomplete Haj house in Kadapa would soon be made operational, enhancing facilities for pilgrims. These infrastructure developments are part of the government's broader initiative to support minority communities in the state.
Commitment to Minority Welfare and Economic Upliftment
Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that the NDA government is firmly committed to the economic and social upliftment of minorities in Andhra Pradesh. Since assuming office in 2024, the administration has implemented several welfare initiatives specifically designed for the community, reflecting a proactive approach to inclusive development.
Key Welfare Measures Highlighted by the Chief Minister
During his address, CM Naidu detailed several ongoing welfare schemes benefiting the Muslim population:
- NTR Bharosa Scheme: Approximately 4.38 lakh Muslims are receiving pensions under this scheme, with the government allocating Rs 3,511 crore annually for this purpose.
- Thalli Ki Vandanam Scheme: Around 4.5 lakh Muslim students are benefiting from this educational initiative.
- Scholarship Programs: Scholarships totaling Rs 264 crore have been released for 19,215 students, supporting their academic pursuits.
These measures underscore the government's dedication to fostering educational and financial stability within the minority communities, ensuring their integration into the state's growth narrative.
