Speaking to reporters, Baghel highlighted a striking irony. Indore has repeatedly received awards from the Government of India as the country's cleanest city. Yet, it now faces a public health emergency of this magnitude. "Indore received awards multiple times as the cleanest city, but there is darkness under the lamp," he remarked pointedly.
Baghel alleged that despite its shining reputation, the city has earned a grim new distinction. It stands accused of supplying contaminated water, which resulted in the loss of lives. He directly accused the BJP government of failing to protect its citizens. He also criticized their mishandling of the ongoing crisis.
Contrasting Official Figures with Local Claims
The situation in Bhagirathpura remains tense. Residents claim that nearly two dozen lives were lost over the past month due to the contaminated water. However, the state government has officially confirmed only seven deaths so far. This discrepancy adds to the public concern and scrutiny.
Baghel expressed deep worry over the government's response. "At a time of such deep sorrow, ministers are making laughable statements. This is extremely worrying," he stated. His comments underscore the political and humanitarian dimensions of the crisis.
