Training and Preparation
The Agniveers underwent an intensive training program spanning several months, which included physical fitness, weapon handling, tactical drills, and leadership skills. The training aimed to prepare them for diverse roles in the Indian Army, including combat, engineering, and support functions.
Lieutenant General R.S. Reen, the reviewing officer, lauded the Agniveers for their dedication and urged them to uphold the highest traditions of the Indian Army. He emphasized the importance of the Agnipath scheme in modernizing the armed forces and providing youth with opportunities for national service.
Emotional Moments for Families
Parents and relatives of the Agniveers expressed immense pride as they witnessed the parade. Many traveled from different parts of the country to be part of this milestone event. The ceremony included a spectacular display of military bands and a flypast by Army aviation helicopters.
The passing out parade concluded with the Agniveers taking the oath of allegiance, pledging to serve the nation with courage and integrity. The new recruits will now proceed to their respective units across the country to begin their service.
Agnipath Scheme Impact
The Agnipath scheme, launched in 2022, aims to recruit young individuals for a four-year tenure, with a provision for 25% to be retained as regular soldiers. This batch of 2,181 Agniveers is among the largest to pass out from the MEG Centre, reflecting the scheme's growing acceptance and success.
