RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Calls for 'Gau Bhakt' Movement to Combat Cow Slaughter
In a significant address delivered in Lucknow, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday underscored the urgent necessity of transforming citizens into 'Gau Bhakt' or cow devotees as a strategic measure to effectively curb cow slaughter across the nation. Speaking at a commemorative event held at Malook Peeth to honor the 452nd birth anniversary of the revered 16th-century seer Malook Das, renowned for his profound teachings on non-duality and spiritual devotion, Bhagwat articulated a vision where societal engagement becomes pivotal in achieving this objective.
Societal Cooperation and Psychological Association Key to Success
Bhagwat highlighted that while individuals in positions of authority have expressed a desire to implement measures against cow slaughter, they are currently encountering substantial challenges and obstacles. "For this, the society needs to come forward and cooperate to achieve the desired objective," he asserted, emphasizing that grassroots involvement is indispensable. Drawing a parallel to the historic construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the RSS chief noted that such monumental endeavors only materialize when public sentiments and psychological connections align with the cause.
"Likewise, the issue of cow protection can be addressed only when people get associated with it psychologically," Bhagwat explained, suggesting that a deep-seated emotional and cultural attachment to cows must be fostered among the populace to drive meaningful change.
Vision for Bharat as a Global Leader
Expanding on his remarks, Bhagwat proclaimed that the present era marks a crucial juncture for Bharat to ascend as a 'Vishwa Guru' or world teacher, guiding global communities with wisdom and leadership. To realize this ambitious aspiration, he called for a collaborative alliance between spiritual seers and the Sangh, with each playing distinct yet complementary roles.
"Seers would do their job while Sangh will play the role of a protector," Bhagwat stated, outlining a framework where religious leaders focus on spiritual guidance while the RSS safeguards cultural and societal values. He further elaborated that the character and nature of society profoundly influence the nation's trajectory, urging communities to adhere to the ethical and moral pathways illuminated by venerable seers throughout history.
