Nara Bhuvaneswari's Generous Donation for Free Meals at Anna Canteens
In a heartfelt gesture to celebrate the birthday of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his wife and prominent industrialist Nara Bhuvaneswari has donated Rs 76 lakh to the Anna Canteen initiative. This substantial contribution is earmarked specifically for providing free meals across all 269 Anna Canteen centers throughout the state, ensuring that thousands of underprivileged individuals can enjoy nutritious food without cost.
Handing Over the Cheque and Emphasizing Welfare
On Sunday, Bhuvaneswari formally presented the cheque to the CEO of Anna Canteens at the chief minister's camp office in Vijayawada. During the ceremony, she made a special request that meals be served free of charge in all outlets as part of the birthday celebrations. She eloquently described the services of Anna Canteens as reflecting the nurturing care of a mother feeding her children, underscoring the program's role as a significant welfare measure implemented by the state government.
Bhuvaneswari highlighted that the Anna Canteen scheme has been instrumental in benefiting lakhs of poor people by guaranteeing access to food with dignity. She pointed out the remarkable affordability of the program, noting that the government provides meals for just Rs 5 in a clean and hygienic environment. This initiative has proven especially valuable for daily wage workers and economically weaker sections, who derive substantial benefits from it.
Call to Action and Government Commitment
In her address, Bhuvaneswari urged the public to support and promote Anna Canteens, stating that there is no greater satisfaction than feeding the hungry. She emphasized the importance of community involvement in sustaining such welfare efforts.
In response to this generous gesture, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his appreciation for Bhuvaneswari's contribution. He reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to strengthening the Anna Danam initiative as a major service program. Drawing parallels with the long-standing Annadanam tradition at Tirumala, Naidu announced plans to further expand Anna Canteen services across Andhra Pradesh, aiming to reach even more beneficiaries.
The donation not only marks a personal celebration but also reinforces the state's dedication to food security and social welfare, showcasing a collaborative effort between public service and private philanthropy.
