Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a significant announcement on Friday during his Samriddhi Yatra in Bettiah. He declared that doctors employed by the Bihar state government will no longer be permitted to engage in private practice. The CM stated that a new policy will soon be introduced to enhance healthcare delivery in government-run hospitals across the state.
Focus on Government Healthcare Improvement
Addressing a public rally in Bettiah on the first day of his yatra, Nitish Kumar explained the reasoning behind this decision. He emphasized that this move will increase the availability of doctors in government hospitals. Patients will consequently receive treatment more promptly and efficiently.
The Chief Minister spoke for thirty-four minutes during his address. He highlighted various government initiatives focused on women's empowerment and employment generation. Nitish Kumar noted that his administration has been working for women's upliftment since first coming to power in 2005.
Women's Empowerment and Employment Targets
The CM pointed to several landmark achievements in this area. Bihar implemented fifty percent reservation for women in panchayat and municipal corporation elections, a first in the country. The state also introduced thirty-five percent reservation for women in the police force. Nitish Kumar assured the public that much more work will be accomplished in the future.
Regarding employment, the Chief Minister set an ambitious target. The government aims to provide employment and jobs to one crore people over the next five years. This announcement received considerable attention from the gathered crowd.
Development Projects and Inspections
As part of his Samriddhi Yatra, Nitish Kumar inspected the Special Economic Zone at Kumarbagh. During this visit, he laid the foundation stone for one hundred twenty-five projects valued at one hundred fifty-three crore rupees. He also inaugurated thirty-six projects worth twenty-nine crore rupees in the district.
The Chief Minister first arrived in Kumarbagh, where he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vardhan Biogas Plant. He reviewed the proposed expansion plans for the Kumarbagh Industrial Area during this stop.
Continuing Development Initiatives
Continuing his program, Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for a women's labour hostel. This facility is being constructed at a cost of nineteen crore rupees. He later reached the historic Ramna Maidan in Bettiah, where he inaugurated an agriculture fair.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure effective implementation of public welfare schemes. He conducted a detailed review of announcements made during the earlier Pragati Yatra. During this review meeting, he instructed all concerned departments to maintain quality work and complete projects within stipulated timeframes.
Administrative Reforms for Public Grievances
To ensure implementation of resolutions under Saat Nischay-3, with the Sabka Samman-Jeevan Aasan policy at its core, officers have received specific directions. They must sit at police station, zone, and district levels every Monday and Friday. During these sessions, they will listen to problems faced by common citizens and address their grievances promptly.
This administrative reform aims to bring governance closer to the people. It seeks to create a more responsive and accountable system that prioritizes citizen welfare and ease of living.
