Alert woman catches man filming in PG bathroom

Bengaluru: A private firm employee’s alertness helped uncover an alleged attempt to secretly record women in the bathroom of a paying guest accommodation in Bhoganahalli, near Bellandur.

Incident Details

Roopa (name changed), who has been residing at a co-living PG for the past two months, told police that on June 14 at 4.30pm, she noticed a white iPhone placed inside the bathroom air vent. Suspecting that someone was recording her, she left the bathroom and alerted the PG caretaker at 4.39pm.

Suspect's Confession

The caretaker knocked on the door of a room adjacent to the complainant’s room. After a brief delay, the occupant came out and denied any wrongdoing. However, during further questioning, he admitted to have placed his phone on the bathroom vent, Roopa told police.

Police Investigation

The suspect was brought to Bellandur police station, where his mobile phone was examined. A senior officer said, “We didn’t find the complainant’s bathing video on his phone. There is a possibility that he deleted the video or she spotted the phone before he recorded anything. We have sent the phone to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to retrieve data if any was deleted.”
