Bihar Districts and Officers Receive Prestigious Election Commission Honors

The Election Commission of India has bestowed special recognition upon several senior officers and districts from Bihar through the "Best Election District Awards-2025, Special Awards and Media Awards". This prestigious acknowledgment celebrates outstanding contributions in election management, comprehensive voter awareness initiatives, and the implementation of model electoral practices across the state.

National Voters Day Celebrations Host Award Ceremonies

The awards were formally presented during the observance of the 16th National Voters' Day, an annual event held on January 25 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. Official functions were organized simultaneously in both New Delhi and Patna, where numerous officials and districts received honors for their dedicated work during the recent Bihar assembly elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Madhubani District Earns Top National Honor

At the national level, Madhubani district achieved a significant milestone by securing the first prize in the highly competitive 'training and capacity building' category. In a ceremony held in New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu personally presented this distinguished award to Anand Sharma, the District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer of Madhubani, recognizing the district's exemplary performance.

Bhagalpur District Shines with Multiple Accolades

For demonstrating exceptional performance during both the Special Intensive Revision and the assembly elections, Nawal Kishor Chaudhary, the District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate of Bhagalpur, was honored with the 'Best DEO Award' under the state-level Best Electoral Practices Awards 2025. Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit presented this award at the Patna function. Notably, Bhagalpur district also received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and emerged as the only district in Bihar to gain recognition across multiple award categories, highlighting its comprehensive electoral excellence.

Individual Officers Recognized for Electoral Integrity

The awards ceremony in Patna also celebrated individual officers for their crucial roles in ensuring electoral integrity. Avinash Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Buxar, was conferred the 'Best Electoral Practices Award-2025' for his diligent work as the Returning Officer of the Buxar assembly constituency, where he successfully guaranteed free, fair, and transparent elections.

Similarly, Tanai Sultania, the District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer of Bhojpur, received the 'Best District Election Officer (DEO) Award-2025' at the Patna event. According to an official press release from the Bhojpur District Magistrate's office, this award acknowledges the district's commendable and consistent performance throughout the Special Intensive Revision and the assembly election period.

These awards collectively underscore Bihar's commitment to strengthening democratic processes through improved election management and enhanced voter engagement initiatives.
