BJP Chief Ministers Set to Converge in Delhi for Presidential Election

All eyes turn to Delhi as the Bharatiya Janata Party prepares for a significant internal election. The party will elect its new president on January 20, with Nitin Nabin poised to secure the position unopposed. This event will bring together chief ministers from BJP-ruled states in the national capital, marking a major gathering of the party's top leadership.

Confirmed Travel Schedules of Key Leaders

Several chief ministers have already finalized their travel plans to attend the election. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will arrive in Delhi on January 17, demonstrating early commitment to the event. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai follows on January 18, while Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini are scheduled for January 19.

As of Friday, the travel arrangements for chief ministers from Assam, Odisha, and Rajasthan remained incomplete. Party officials continue to coordinate these final details to ensure full participation from all BJP-ruled states.

Budget Photo Location Remains Uncertain

With the Union Budget 2026-27 presentation just two weeks away, government officials face an interesting logistical question. The Finance Ministry relocated from North Block to Kartavya Bhawan in October last year, yet the Budget printing will likely occur at the North Block press due to incomplete facilities at the new location.

This creates uncertainty about where the traditional pre-Budget photograph will take place. Finance Ministry officials typically pose with Budget documents before presenting them in Parliament. The government must now decide whether this ritual will occur at the historic North Block or the new Kartavya Bhawan headquarters.

Agriculture Ministry Postpones Key Event

The Agriculture Ministry has rescheduled its annual 'chintan shivir' after months of venue searching. Originally planned for January 19-20 at the Pusa campus in New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to postpone the event to the second week of February.

Ministry officials had already extended invitations to over 100 guests, including farmers and agricultural experts from across the country. The postponement allows for additional preparation time while maintaining the event's importance for policy discussions.

Mayawati Shifts Base to Lucknow

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has concluded her nearly two-month stay in Delhi and returned to Lucknow. During her time in the national capital, she held numerous meetings with party leaders from various states.

Sources indicate that Mayawati's relocation to Lucknow will help her focus more directly on the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Operating from Lucknow provides greater convenience for state party leaders to coordinate with her as preparations intensify for these crucial polls.

This strategic move allows Mayawati to oversee organizational matters from a location closer to the political battleground, potentially strengthening the BSP's position in India's most populous state.
