BJP Leaders Champion Viksit Bharat Scheme in Trichy, Launch Scathing Attack on DMK Government

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Rajkumar Chahar and Sudhakar Reddy delivered a robust defense of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme during a high-profile workshop held in Trichy on Friday. The leaders emphasized the program's transformative potential for rural development while launching sharp criticisms against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu, alleging a breakdown in law and order and political diversion tactics.

VB-G RAM G Scheme: A New Paradigm for Rural Employment

Rajkumar Chahar, serving as the national president of the BJP Kisan Morcha, articulated how the VB-G RAM G initiative, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addresses systemic flaws that plagued the previous Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. "The new scheme fundamentally resolves long-standing deficiencies in MGNREGS," Chahar declared to assembled reporters. He elaborated that employment guarantees have been substantially enhanced from 100 to 125 days per rural household annually, with a streamlined wage payment system ensuring disbursement within seven to fifteen days.

Chahar contrasted this with the operational shortcomings of MGNREGS, stating, "Under the old system, while there was a theoretical guarantee of 100 days of employment, the reality often saw households receiving only 40, 20, or 30 days of work. Moreover, the scheme had become vulnerable to widespread corruption." The BJP leader outlined the scheme's comprehensive focus on creating tangible rural infrastructure, including the construction and renovation of ponds, irrigation tanks, agricultural warehouses, bridges, and sanitation facilities like toilets, aiming to build developed villages as the foundation for a developed India.

Political Accusations and Governance Critique

Sudhakar Reddy, the BJP's national co-in-charge for Tamil Nadu, who participated alongside Chahar as a special guest at the workshop, shifted focus to the political landscape. He strongly criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's recent declaration positioning the DMK as the 'defender of minorities', labeling the statement as "uncalled for and in remarkably poor taste." Reddy accused the DMK of engaging in cynical vote-bank politics and attempting to divert public attention from its administrative failures through what he termed 'bogus surveys' and unfulfilled election promises.

"The state is witnessing a complete collapse of law and order," Reddy alleged. "Various mafias—operating in land, sand, liquor, and ganja—are effectively ruling the roost, creating an environment of fear and lawlessness." This stern indictment formed the core of the BJP's critique against the DMK's governance record.

Confidence in Electoral Prospects

Concluding their remarks, both leaders expressed unwavering confidence in the electoral prospects of the National Democratic Alliance in Tamil Nadu. They asserted that the public has already made its decision to support the NDA, which is contesting under the leadership of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, with the perceived blessings and popular mandate of Prime Minister Modi. The Trichy event served as a platform to promote a central government scheme while framing the upcoming political contest as a choice between a corruption-ridden status quo and a future of development and security.
