Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary has leveled serious allegations against the Congress government in Karnataka, accusing it of diverting funds allocated for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and neglecting overall development in the state. The BJP leader also charged the Siddaramaiah-led government with being insensitive towards Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Allegations of Fund Diversion
Speaking to the media, Poojary claimed that the state government had misused funds meant for the welfare of SC/ST communities. He alleged that instead of utilizing the allocated money for targeted schemes, the Congress administration redirected it to other projects, thereby depriving marginalized groups of essential benefits. The MP emphasized that such actions are a direct violation of constitutional provisions and a betrayal of the trust of the underprivileged sections of society.
Neglect of Development Projects
Poojary further criticized the government for failing to prioritize developmental activities in the state. He pointed out that key infrastructure projects, including roads, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions, have been stalled or delayed due to administrative apathy. The BJP leader argued that the Congress government's focus on political maneuvering rather than governance has hampered Karnataka's progress.
Insensitivity Towards OBCs
In addition to the SC/ST fund issue, the MP accused the Siddaramaiah government of neglecting the interests of Other Backward Classes. He claimed that the administration has not implemented adequate measures for their upliftment and has ignored their demands for better representation and resources. Poojary asserted that the BJP remains committed to the welfare of all backward communities and will continue to hold the government accountable.
Political Reactions
The allegations have sparked a political debate in Karnataka, with the Congress party dismissing the claims as baseless. State Congress leaders defended their record, stating that they have consistently worked for the development of SC/ST and OBC communities. They accused the BJP of making unsubstantiated charges to divert attention from its own failures at the national level. However, Poojary maintained that the evidence of fund diversion is clear and demanded a thorough investigation by the state and central authorities.
The issue is likely to be raised in the upcoming session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, where the opposition is expected to press for a detailed discussion on the misuse of SC/ST funds and the overall development agenda.
