Hyderabad: Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind has sparked political debate in Telangana by suggesting that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy may switch sides and join the Bharatiya Janata Party in the future, much like West Bengal's Suvendu Adhikari did. The BJP leader predicted a major political churning in the state over the next two years.
Arvind Criticizes Congress Leadership
Arvind slammed the Congress party for choosing Revanth as its leader over long-standing party members. He claimed that the Congress is set to lose the 2028-29 assembly elections, drawing parallels to its defeats in 1985 and 1994. He emphasized that the political activity in Telangana will favor the BJP in the coming years.
PM Modi's Remark Sparks Speculation
Arvind's remarks come after Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Revanth, 'Mere hi saath judo' (join me) at a recent event in Hyderabad. Revanth later clarified that the remark should not be overinterpreted. However, Arvind insisted that Revanth has never been loyal to the Congress party and is more loyal to his former bosses.
Speaking to the Times of India, Arvind said, 'Revanth Reddy has never been loyal to the party. He is more loyal to his ex-bosses. I am hinting at possible negative developments in the Congress.'
Political Implications
The statement has triggered chatter in political circles, with many analyzing the potential impact on Telangana's political landscape. Arvind's prediction of a BJP surge in the next two years has added to the speculation. The Congress party has yet to officially respond to these claims.
