BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi directly questioned Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday. He asked whether the INDIA opposition alliance still holds any relevance in Uttar Pradesh. Trivedi raised this pointed query during a press conference at the state BJP office in Lucknow.
Trivedi Highlights Alliance's Electoral Failures
The BJP national spokesperson referenced recent election outcomes in multiple states. He mentioned the Delhi and Bihar state elections along with municipal polls in Maharashtra. Trivedi stated that opposition parties must explain why the INDIA bloc collapsed repeatedly after the 2024 general elections.
"There is nothing called the INDIA bloc present on the floor of either the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha," Trivedi asserted. He predicted the alliance would face further decline during the upcoming 2026 elections. The BJP leader urged opposition parties to stop misleading propaganda that fools citizens using the INDIA bloc name.
Samajwadi Party's Poor Performance in Mumbai
Trivedi highlighted the Samajwadi Party's disappointing results in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls. The party managed to secure only one seat. He noted that even the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen won more seats than SP.
"The BJP is going to have a mayor in Mumbai for the first time," Trivedi emphasized. He contrasted this achievement with the opposition's struggles.
Trivedi's Advice to Akhilesh Yadav
The BJP MP posed a crucial question to the SP chief. He asked whether Akhilesh Yadav would learn from Tejashwi Yadav's experience in Bihar. Alternatively, would he carry the burden of Congress's failed political ambitions in Uttar Pradesh?
Trivedi praised Uttar Pradesh's development trajectory under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership. He suggested the state continues progressing steadily under BJP governance.
BJP Questions INDIA Bloc's Democratic Credentials
Trivedi raised serious concerns about democratic practices in states governed by INDIA bloc parties. He referenced the harassment of Booth Level Officers leading to suicide in West Bengal. He mentioned attacks on media personnel in Punjab. The BJP leader also cited attempts to intimidate judges by violating court orders in Tamil Nadu.
"Should these incidents not be considered evidence that democracy is in danger in the hands of the INDIA bloc?" Trivedi questioned during his press conference.
BJP's Expanding Political Footprint
Trivedi highlighted the BJP's growing influence across India. He mentioned the party's significant presence in Delhi and its performance in Kerala municipal polls. The BJP achieved a historic milestone by securing the mayor's position in Thiruvananthapuram. This victory ended four decades of Communist rule in the city.
The BJP leader concluded that opposition parties face continuous collapse. He attributed this to their frustration over repeated electoral defeats. Trivedi suggested these parties engage in vote-bank politics that favors infiltrators, further weakening their position.
